About Dental Exit Group

Dental Exit Group is a website for owners of general dentistry practices, specialty practices and dental groups who are thinking about selling. It takes requests for a free, confidential valuation and publishes guides on what a dental practice is worth and how to sell a dental practice.

Disclosure

DentalExitGroup.com is operated by a non-licensed entity and is an affiliate of Wraith Brokerage, LLC (a Delaware LLC). We specialize in dental practice brokerage services for general dentistry, specialty practices, and dental groups.

What this site covers

The questions in a dental sale are specific: how much of the dentistry you produce yourself and whether your associates stay, what happens to your PPO participation and fee schedules when the owner changes, who keeps the patient charts after closing, and whether your buyer may own a dental practice at all under your state's law. The guides cover selling to a DSO, selling to another dentist and selling a specialty practice.

What happens when you request a valuation?

  1. Describe your practice

Revenue range, state, number of dentists, number of locations and how to reach you, on one short form that takes about two minutes.

  2. Collections, production and payer mix

Gather five years of financial statements and tax returns, your collections and production, and your fee-for-service to managed care ratio. The ADA valuation document checklist lists the rest.

  3. Your valuation

A value range from your seller's discretionary earnings (SDE), which includes your pay as the owner-dentist, or from EBITDA if the practice runs without your chair time. The range is set against the closest published multiples, where any exist, with what would move it up or down. It is not an appraisal, and not an offer from a dentist or a DSO to buy your practice.

  4. Your decision

You are under no obligation to sell. Whether you sell to an associate, another dentist or a DSO, and when, is your decision.

Is a valuation request confidential?

Details about your practice are not shared with prospective buyers, whether another dentist or a DSO, without your permission. Requesting a valuation does not list your practice, and the form asks for no patient information; the privacy policy explains what it does collect and where it goes.

A hygienist who hears of a sale and leaves can be hard to replace. In April 2026 the ADA Health Policy Institute reported that only 60% of dentists had enough hygienists on staff, and that 91% of dentists who were recruiting or had recently recruited one called it very or extremely challenging.

If patient charts come up at all, it is in a buyer's due diligence; see patient records and HIPAA in the due diligence checklist.

What this site is not

Nothing on this site, including the guides, the FAQ and the estimator, is legal or tax advice, and many of the rules in a dental practice sale are set state by state. Confirm anything you plan to rely on with healthcare counsel and a CPA in your state. The guide to who can own a dental practice and the dental practice due diligence checklist cover these rules with sources.
